The Island

  • New Mirror tab: your camera in the island, in the camera's shape. Space toggles it, and it stays open after you leave until you pick another tab.
  • Lyrics pop out, and the island picks up colours from the album art.
  • Settings → Island is its own page now.
  • Leaving the island folds it with the distance, and it lets go some way off. Closing eases out instead of snapping shut. The Hide hint is one short line with a ring.
  • WindowsIt stays on top of the window in front and opens in full screen.
  • WindowsThe top edge opens it again even after the app has run a while.
  • WindowsIn Do Not Disrupt, the top edge opens it only with Ctrl held.

Weather

  • New: rain, snow, fog and sun effects on the ring and the island.
  • Trying one in Settings shows it on both at once.

  • New: Extract text, Read QR and Search similar.

Search

  • Snippets: choose how a date looks from a list of real results.

General

  • Less RAM: the Dock icon shows only when it has something to show, and the ring trims itself while hidden.

The Island

  • New: what's playing at the top of your screen, around the notch. The record, the song, a seek bar, controls and synced lyrics, under the controls or beside them (Settings → Preferences → Island).
  • macOSHold the pointer at the top edge: a ring fills, and the island opens with a soft wash of your accent colour and a tap on the trackpad. Passing by opens nothing.
  • Tabs for Music, Shortcuts (your apps, files, links and actions) and Shelf. Only the chosen tab shows its name.
  • Drop files on it to share, convert, or keep them on the shelf and drag them out later.
  • Nothing playing? It offers the places you listen, the same ones as the media ring's Play.
  • Steps aside while a video is full screen, and comes back after.
  • Hide it with one click; a hint shows how to bring it back (hold the top edge).
  • A lyrics button, a pin to keep it open, the time and date, and a chevron to make it small again.
  • Three shapes (Drop, Seamless, Floating), background and content opacity, and every FlickFlick style, Liquid Glass included.

Picture in Picture

  • New: any video in a small window that stays on top. Start it from the island or the Picture in Picture action.
  • Crop it to the video by hand, with a magnifier and a box you can move and resize. Whole window shows everything.
  • Snaps to the edges of the screen, tucks away at the side with a handle to bring it back, and plays, pauses and skips.
  • FixCrop works again after choosing Whole window.

Media ring

  • SYNC on the record starts over with the player when it falls out of step.
  • FixFirefox: a YouTube video no longer shows as LIVE when Firefox gives no length (FlickFlick asks YouTube).
  • FixFirefox: 0:00 after a seek, and a closed tab that kept showing, no longer stick.

Search

  • Games: roll a number, dice (d6, d20…) and flip a coin, with animations. Enter rolls again.
  • Recent apps, files, web searches and snippets when the box is empty, and in each scope.
  • A Copy button under clipboard and snippet previews, and Edit snippet from ⌘K. ⌘K's menu filters as you type.
  • FixBackspace on an empty box keeps the scope you're in, and Esc closes search when it was opened by its own shortcut.
  • FixThe panel's shadow fades out smoothly instead of being cut off at the sides.

General

  • macOSDouble-tap ⌘ ⌥ ⌃ ⇧ or fn to open a ring or a command.
  • Eject checks the disks are really gone before saying so, and ⌘ picks one disk when there are several.
  • Tooltips on every icon-only button.

FlickFlick 1.14.2

Liquid Glass you can read over anything, and steadier seeking on Windows.

Liquid Glass

  • The light style stays readable over any background, even a black desktop or a page full of text: the glass is more solid, and a dark tint can't darken it under dark text.
  • Increase contrast no longer turns light glass dark, and Reduce transparency makes it more solid instead of more see-through.

Media ring

  • WindowsSeeking in SoundCloud on Edge: if the player drops a seek while it's still loading, FlickFlick sends it once more, and says so if it still doesn't land.
  • WindowsA player that doesn't allow seeking says so when you press the ring, and players show their plain names (Edge, Firefox).

General

  • macOSFlickFlick is now signed the same way every time, so updates keep the Accessibility and Screen Recording you allowed. After this update, allow them one last time from Settings → Permissions.

Media ring

  • Flick to skip shows it: the target beside the ring fills as the flick arms, then fills with your accent colour when you lift your fingers.

Media ring

  • Flick sideways and lift to skip a track; slide back before you lift to change your mind.
  • Scroll for the volume, one step per wheel notch (1%, 2% or 5%). One gesture is volume or tracks, never both.
  • − / + on the record jump back or ahead (5, 10, 15 or 30 s). Space plays and pauses; number keys jump to chapters, or 10–90%.
  • The record is a turntable: it spins up when the music starts and runs down when it stops. Flowing dashes, Shimmer or the new Platter sheen, and a Needle glow at the tip.
  • Live streams have their own state: LIVE on the record, and once you've paused, a click on it takes you back to live.
  • Tips the first time it opens with something playing.

Search

  • Finds files and folders in your home folder.
  • Searches the web: Tab moves between All, Files, Web, Clipboard and Snippets, with suggestions and a grey completion as you type (Google, DuckDuckGo or Bing).

Settings

  • Export and import everything, to move to another Mac or PC (shortcuts move between ⌘ and Ctrl).
  • Reset on any preference you've changed, and Reset everything.
  • The Seek ring card shows a live preview. 12 / 24-hour clock, with seconds or milliseconds.

Windows

  • WindowsAlbum art on the media ring, the ring's own volume and seek gauge, a hotkey on every slice, and a tray icon you can see.
  • WindowsSteam and Epic games show up in the app list, with their icons.
  • FixA video behind the ring no longer goes black when Dim background is on.

General

  • A click anywhere outside the ring closes it.
  • Open at login in the welcome and the tray menu; after Quit & Reopen you're back where you were.

  • The app is now called FlickFlick (one word), with a new logo. Your settings, rings and snippets carry over.
  • macOSIt renames itself to FlickFlick.app the first time it opens.
  • App icon choices (Settings → Appearance), and a lime accent.

Rings

  • Stacks: group your rings (Work, Media, Design…) and press Tab on the ring to switch between them. Rings can be reordered.
  • Plugins: weather, air quality, stocks & crypto, your next meeting, and the date and time, as small cards around the ring.

Media ring

  • A seek gauge round the record with minute marks and YouTube chapters, the time when you point at the record, and seeking that shows how far you moved.
  • Two-finger tap plays or pauses; scroll and swipe are yours to set.

Styles

  • Skeuomorphic style: real dot-matrix LED panels.
  • Colour fields that read like Figma's, and tabs that step aside.

Actions

  • Convert to MOV, movable screenshot annotations, and a Lock Screen that really locks.

Styles

  • Three styles: Flat, Skeuomorphic (a real dial with an LED display) and Liquid Glass (clear glass that swells toward your cursor like water).

Rings

  • Point, don't aim: the slice in the direction you point lights up, even past the ring's edge.
  • The date and time above the ring: the date opens Calendar, the time opens Clock.
  • Confetti for every season: tap ⌘ twice for a burst from your cursor. Bats at Halloween, ketupat at Lebaran, hearts on Valentine's, balloons on your birthday.

Settings

  • A new Settings window: search everything (⌘F), a tidy tree of rings, library and preferences, and a clearer Permissions page.

Windows

  • WindowsSnippets expand as you type, focus returns to your app, FlickFlick has its own icon, and the ring is much smoother.

Security

  • Sandboxed windows, risky links refused, updates only from the release page, and Electron's run-as-Node switches off.
